EXCEEDING Abundantly

Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” (KJV)

Abundantly. What does that mean? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it means "existing or occurring in large amounts." The word exceeding means "to go beyond a limit set by." We serve a great big God who is able "to go beyond a limit set by" our human mind to do something abundantly. God provides abundantly, blesses abundantly, saves abundantly, heals abundantly - the possibilities are endless!

God Gives More Than Enough

In the book of II Kings, a widow’s sons were about to be taken away, because her husband died and left her in debt. In her distress, she cried for help, and Elijah asked her what she possessed. All she possessed was a pot of oil. So, Elijah told her to borrow vessels and fill them with oil so she can sell the oil. The desperate widow borrowed all of the vessels that she could find, and filled every vessel. But, the oil kept flowing and never ran out. She even asked for another pot, but there were no more pots. Because the widow woman acted in faith, God abundantly blessed her with oil that overflowed. He didn't just give her enough, he gave her more than enough! What seems impossible to us, is possible for God.

When I barely began my teaching career, there was a time that I needed almost a thousand dollars to pay for a college class that I was required to take. At the time, I did not have the money to pay for this class. I prayed in faith that God would meet this need. I wrote the check, and turned it into the Bursar's office. Do you know what? That check never did bounce. God paid it for me. He is able to exceed abundantly!

Give God What You Have

Accept how great our God really is. Act in faith knowing that God will come through for us because we are his children. Give God what you have so that he can use it to abundantly bless you.

Pray This Prayer

God, help me trust in Your Word and believe that You can answer my prayer. The current situation may look bleak and impossible, but You are able to answer in a way that exceeds and surpasses abundance. I faithfully believe You exceed the need in my life. Amen!
